TYLOS Private School (TPS) aim is to develop citizens of integrity who will become life long learners by building genuine, positive, respectful and professional scholarship among staff, students and parents and by providing unlimited opportunities for academic achievement within a safe and secure environment. TPS also aims to create a nurturing learning environment where students, faculty and community work together to develop academic excellence, ethical behavior and personal responsibility. Guided by our core-values of respect, responsibility and relationship and the promotion of lifelong learning. TPS aim is to honour the potentials in each child and support all learners. Within a safe and flexible learning environment, our aim culminates in guiding children toward becoming meaningful contributors in our dynamic modern society.

Academic

The academic program at TPS provides every opportunity for students to reach their full potential. Professional educators who are chosen for their academic expertise as well as their ability to relate to children teach the accelerated curriculum at each grade level. Our developmentally appropriate, nurturing program and flexible teaching techniques at all levels allow our students to build confidence and self-discipline as they develop morals and values. The emphasis on developing creative ability, self-expression, critical thinking, and problems-solving skills within each child is essential in order for them to function as responsible citizens throughout their lives.

Kindergarten

The classroom is rich, varied and exciting enabling each child to discover, think, create, and bear responsibility. It provides him/her with an opportunity to acquire reading, writing, speaking, counting and arithmetic concepts and skills
We believe each child is a unique individual, developing at his own pace, and exhibiting range of abilities, interests, and needs. Our developmentally- appropriate, child-centered Kindergarten curriculum focuses on the “whole” child and his/her social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. The skills embedded in the curriculum are integrated throughout the disciplines and provide multiple opportunities for the children to develop foundation skills for a life-long learning.

  1. Experiences are provided to meet children’s need to stimulate learning in all developmental areas: physical, social, emotional and intellectual.
  2. Each child is viewed as a unique person developing at his own pace and exhibiting a range of abilities, interest and needs. Therefore different levels of ability development and learning styles are expected and accepted.
  3. Interactions and activities are designed to provide multiple opportunities for children to develop self esteem and positive feelings towards learning.
  4. Learning activities and materials are concrete real and relevant to the lives of the young children.

  1. The daily routine is designed to provide consistency. The consistent routine provides direction for the children and helps them develop internal control.
  2. The daily routine is focused on the children’s need for active involvement and decision making.
  3. The daily routine provides a mechanism through the children become responsible for creating the materials and activities for their own learning.
  4. The daily routine provides a variety of interactions among children and adults. Time is provided for the child

Each segment of a daily routine should provide a different kind of experience for children and has a name by which the children can refer to it.
Corners are small area within the classroom where children with work alone or interact with others using instructional materials to explore one or more subject areas. Corners encourage active participation, help make decisions, facilitate individualized learning, work independently and children make better use of resources.

Building a bridge between the child’s home and his school world is very beneficial to our educational program. Achieving a healthy and coherent growth lies in the cooperation between the kindergarten and home and plays a major role on the road to success.
  1. Parents develop security in their responsibility toward their own child
  2. Teachers gain a better understanding and insight about the child and his family
  3. Teachers learn from parents when a two way communication is open
  4. Parents participate in learning experiences with the children
  5. Parents understand the school and the program.

Primary

The program for classes 1-6  is designed to develop the student's knowledge, skills and comprehension in the following areas: reading and writing in Arabic and English, social sciences, science, math, arts, music, drama, computer and physical education. Specialized, experienced and highly–qualified teachers supervise this program. The teachers enrich this program with life experiences. School trips, visiting speakers, and varied activities to teach students problem– solving, cooperation and veering responsibility through group work and positive reinforcement.
This program also emphasizes the processes of free reading and writing. Every class has a mini library where a student can read or borrow books. The school adopts the "Talents Unlimited" program which aims at developing fertile thinking, communication skills, planning, predicting and decision– making capabilities. The parents play an active role at this stage. The Class Mother, elected annually by class parents, assists all intramural and extramural activities.

Parents can follow up on their children's progress through a weekly detailed bulletin prepared by class teacher, the three meetings held during the year, and through each teacher's office hour. Parents are informed of school activities through a bulletin sent every month.

The student evaluation at this stage is descriptive; it does not depend on grades, but on comparing present and previous performances. Two separate reports are sent to parents every semester.
